5 Reasons We Train and The Value of Early Training

At Canine Castle we are passionate about training. It's an incredible feeling to know we are helping to create lifetime companions. We believe training early and training well helps the community as a whole. Many dogs end up in shelters each year because of behavioral issues that are out of control and the owners don't have the time, knowledge, or resources to correct the behaviors. In reality, some of these behaviors may even be the result of a lack of early training and socialization.

Here's 5 Reasons We Train and The Value of Early Training

  • Puppies are like children. We can't expect them to know how to behave when they come out of the womb. We have to be proactive in teaching them how and what to learn at the right phases of their lives. Specifically, OES were bred to be in the fields guarding sheep which requires independent thinking, great leadership, and self-decision making. Asking them to live in a household requires training that adapts them to home lifestyles.

  • As part of our responsible breeding practices, we ask for lifetime ownership and believe training helps start a family off on the right foot. Testimonies come in regularly of how well-behaved our owner's adult dogs are - this is often attributed to the training they received. If for any reason, a dog ever has to come back to us to find a new home, we know they have a solid foundation that was built into them before leaving us.

  • When families get a new puppy, they are wanting to ENJOY their puppy. The window for early training goes by quickly and before we know it, the puppy has trained us while we have simply spoiled it. Unwanted adult behaviors are often the result of a lack of early training, training incorrectly, or offering no training to a puppy.

  • It is the responsibility of owners to train their puppy. That said, our trainer offers us a discount for training the entire litter. We pass these savings along to you by building the training package into the puppy's price. Therefore, it is in the best interests of the puppy, the buyer, and us as the breeder to give the puppies a basic foundation to go home with.

  • The puppies 2 weeks of Basic Obedience Training is valued at $2200 and comes with lifetime question support from the trainer. That said, giving any living being the building blocks to interact appropriately in a chaotic world is invaluable.
